Original 1942 WWII Poster Lutamos Pela Liberdade de Todos McKnight Kauffer
This is an original 1942 Portuguese language World War II propaganda poster designed by Edward McKnight Kauffer. Titled Lutamos Pela Liberdade de Todos (We Fight for the Freedom of All), this piece was commissioned by the United States government to build support in South America against the Axis powers.
The artwork features a stylized profile of Columbia, an allegory for the United States, wearing a star-studded helmet with the American flag integrated into the background. McKnight Kauffer was a prominent graphic artist known for his work with the London Underground and his ability to blend Cubist and Futurist influences into commercial design.
Condition and Mounting
This is an original vintage poster, not a modern reproduction. It is currently housed behind plexiglass for protection. The plexiglass is a minor crack. it was originally housed behind glass but it broke. To fully appreciate its aesthetic, we recommend reframing the piece upon arrival. The publication printing is behind the mounted as seen in the pictures.
