CPA ancienne 1900 - Maréchal Jean Lannes - Série « Le XIXe Siècle »

Belle carte postale ancienne française du début des années 1900 représentant Jean Lannes, duc de Montebello, l’un des plus célèbres maréchaux de Napoléon Ier.

Cette carte appartient à la remarquable série « Le XIXe Siècle », consacrée aux grandes figures de l’histoire française. Grâce au texte manuscrit d’époque, cette série est identifiée comme un ensemble de 25 portraits intitulé « Les grands hommes du XIXe siècle », échangés entre correspondantes au fil de leur correspondance.

Jean Lannes

Jean Lannes (1769–1809), duc de Montebello et maréchal d’Empire, fut l’un des plus proches compagnons de Napoléon. La notice imprimée mentionne plusieurs de ses campagnes les plus célèbres : Lodi, Arcole, Marengo, Austerlitz, Iéna et le siège de Saragosse. Mort des suites de ses blessures après la bataille d’Essling, il demeure l’une des figures les plus admirées de l’histoire napoléonienne.

Correspondance manuscrite

La carte contient une longue lettre manuscrite particulièrement émouvante. L’autrice évoque une grave situation familiale, explique que des médecins refusent encore de révéler une douloureuse vérité à une proche, puis donne des nouvelles de Beauvais avant d’adresser ses salutations affectueuses à la destinataire et à sa famille.

Jean Lannes

Jean Lannes (1769–1809), Duke of Montebello and Marshal of France, was one of Napoleon’s closest companions and most brilliant battlefield commanders. The printed biography references his participation in the famous campaigns of Lodi, Arcole, Marengo, Austerlitz, Jena and the Siege of Saragossa. Mortally wounded after the Battle of Essling, he remains one of the iconic figures of the Napoleonic era.

Handwritten correspondence

The postcard carries a lengthy original handwritten letter discussing a difficult family situation.
