This is a captivating antique stereoview card, also known as a stereograph, published by the renowned Keystone View Company. The card features a stunning 3D view titled \"171 THE WINTER GLORY OF THE AMERICAN FALLS, Niagara Falls, N. Y.\", showcasing the breathtaking beauty of Niagara Falls during winter. The scene captures the American Falls covered in snow and ice, with barren trees framing the powerful cascades, presenting a dramatic and serene landscape. The image is presented on a classic curved mount, characteristic of stereoviews from the era.The reverse side of the card provides a detailed descriptive text, transcribing as follows: \"171 THE WINTER GLORY OF THE AMERICAN FALLS, NIAGARA FALLS, N. Y. Rarely does tremendous power clothe itself with such beauty of form as it does in these wonderful falls of the Niagara. The eye is filled winter or summer with its marvelous wealth of beauty—the rainbow mists, the sparkling foam, the mighty grandeur of form and glory of color in summer, the dazzling brightness of the fairy masonry of winter. Not less fascinating is the contemplation of the power hidden within it. The Niagara River is estimated to possess 8,000,000 horsepower. Of this 8,000,000, the Falls have about one-half, or 4,000,000 horsepower. We are standing on Luna Island looking toward the American Falls. At our back are the Canadian Falls, carrying nine times as much water. At the water\'s edge, just beyond the bridge end which you see, is the mouth of a tunnel which runs back almost horizontally up stream a mile and a quarter. Here it is met by vertical shafts from the level of the ground 140 feet above. Down these shafts fall the columns of water which by means of turbine wheels are already producing nearly half a million horsepower annually in the form of electrical energy. About three-fourths of the power generated is consumed in the neighborhood of the Falls. Of the remainder the most is used by Buffalo, twenty-two miles distant, for its railroads and other power purposes, while some of it goes even into Ohio and Pennsylvania.
