The Parliament of the World’s Religions met for the first time from September 11 – 28, 1893 in Chicago, as a project growing out of the World’s Columbian Exposition also held that year
Here are the photographs included:
1. Frances Willard -was an American educator, temperance reformer, and women's suffragist. Willard became the national president of Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) in 1879 and remained president until her death in 1898
2. Joseph Cook - Boston evangelistorthodox Protestant Christianity
3. Ballington Booth -a key figure in the Salvation Army and later founder of the Volunteers of America
4. J.M. Buckley -was a prominent Methodist clergyman and editor who, while not a main speaker, actively engaged with the 1893 Parliament of Religions as an observer, offering critical, orthodox Protestant perspectives on the proceedings -
5. John H. Vincent -was a prominent American Methodist bishop and co-founder of the Chautauqua Institution
6. Lyman Abbott -prominent Congregational minister
7. J.N. Fitzgerald - leader of theMethodist Episcopal Church
8. William Taylor - American Methodist missionary minister
