Practicing in New York City, Green was among the first doctors to focus exclusively on diseases of the throat, lungs, and air passages at a time when such specialization was virtually unknown. He introduced innovative techniques for directly treating the larynx and bronchi, using specially designed instruments to apply medication to areas previously considered unreachable. Although controversial during his career—his methods prompted formal investigation by the New York Academy of Medicine—his ideas were later validated and recognized as groundbreaking. Today, Green is acknowledged as an important figure in the medical history of respiratory and throat treatment, and his contributions laid the foundation for modern ear, nose, and throat (ENT) practice.
