Up for sale is a rare Gearbox 12-inch Amoco Silver Lead-Free gas pump bank that appears to be a possible pre-production prototype or sample. This piece came from the estate of a former ERTL/Gearbox executive and shares several characteristics with other prototype/sample pumps from the collection.
Features include:
Rare 12" Gearbox Amoco Silver Lead-Free gas pump bank
Factory-style "FOR USE AS A MOTOR FUEL ONLY CONTAINS LEAD (TETRAETHYL)" test placard
Residue remains where a "Prototype SAMPLE" sticker appears to have originally been
Unlike standard production versions, this example does not have the normal licensing/copyright markings on the bottom
Die-cast construction with plastic cylinder and rubber hose
Gearbox Collectibles base marked Limited Edition
Light wear from age and handling, including a few small paint marks, as shown
While I cannot guarantee this piece is a factory prototype, it shares the same construction details, lead test placard, and missing licensing markings as other confirmed prototype/sample pumps from this executive collection, making it an excellent candidate for collectors of Gearbox, Amoco, ERTL, and Petroliana memorabilia.
