Vintage mid-century hand-painted ceramic souvenir ashtray from Florida. a classic piece of Americana tourist kitsch from the 1940s to 1950s. The piece features a distinct, raised three-dimensional (3D) \"bathing beauty\" figurine lounging on a beach campfire style background. She is styled in a vibrant yellow swimsuit and a wide-brimmed sun hat with matching pink trim. It captures a classic tropical scene featuring pink flamingos, palm trees, and hand-painted coastal accents. It is heavily stylized in the fashion of mid-century ceramic artists of the era, such as Dorothy Kindell, who popularized cheeky, sculptural pin-up and barware accessories. Items of this age frequently show crazing in the glaze, surface chips, or signs of repair—particularly along the narrow sections of the legs where ceramic is most fragile. This piece only has a small chip along the edge. Very good condition.
