The Fenton Art Glass Company, established in 1905 by brothers Frank and John Fenton in Martins Ferry, Ohio, became renowned for its innovative colored and iridescent glasswares. They eventually moved their operations to Williamstown, West Virginia, where they mastered techniques that produced shimmering, rainbow-like metallic sheens on molded glass surfaces. Throughout the 20th century, Fenton expanded their catalog to include charming animal figurines that combined traditional glass pressing with delicate hand-painted embellishments.Animal figurines like this mallard duck became immensely popular among collectors during the later decades of the company's production. Skilled decorators hand-applied enamel paints and metallic highlights to accentuate the feathers and features of each piece before firing them for permanence. These figurines represented an accessible way for households to enjoy American art glass, securing Fenton's legacy in collectible decorative objects. The Artist Signature: This piece is hand-signed on the bottom by V. Cline (Vanessa Cline), a recognized Fenton artist. This signature confirms it was part of their premium decorated line rather than a blank factory line. The Anniversary Sticker: The silver metallic "95th" shield sticker boosts collector interest, identifying it precisely as a limited year-2000 production piece.
