Cypraea tigris pardalis — GEM DARK LARGE-SPOT GLOBOSE FORM
A particularly attractive and distinctive mature Cypraea tigris pardalis displaying an unusual combination of very large dark spotting, rich chestnut-brown coloration and a remarkably broad, globose profile.
The dorsal pattern is the standout feature. Rather than the numerous smaller spots typically seen on many Tiger Cowries, this specimen displays large, bold chocolate-brown to nearly black spots and blotches, with several markings touching or partially coalescing into larger areas. Against the warm cream-to-chestnut ground, the result is a dramatic, high-contrast appearance.
The shell is also unusually broad for its length, measuring 62.0 × 49.5 mm and weighing 28.75 grams. Its width is nearly 80% of its length, contributing to the distinctly rounded, inflated appearance seen especially well in the side and terminal photographs.
Condition is GEM, with beautiful natural dorsal gloss, clean terminals, strong well-developed teeth and an attractive mature base. The bright base provides excellent contrast with the much darker dorsal surface.
