DETAILS: Original photograph of downtown Elizabeth, New Jersey depicting the Shanghai Tea Garden, considered by many to be among the very first Chinese American restaurantsin the state. In the backgroundis the original Hersh Building on Broad street which was the largest building in the city at that time.It was later demolished in 1931 and replaced by another taller structure but because of a restrictive covenant, maintained the same name.
