Cast bronze or brass Egyptian scarab with pharaoh’s head on it’s back. The backing plate is of the same material and appears to have been cast with the scarab. This is a heavy ( 2.9 oz.) item and measures ~ 2-3/4” X 1-5/8“. It appears old and is either from Egypt or perhaps was made during the Egyptian Revival art period in the US (1920’s -40’s). I believe that this is a good luck amulet or talisman. There is a hole at the top of the plate for handing either on a chain or perhaps a wall hook. Shows signs of wear to the detail and a small area of minor verdigris in one spot to the left of the pharaohs head (see photos). A neat old item. Please write with questions. Thanks for looking.
