ASTRO BOY 1960'sASTRO BOY 1960's (? see below)Original Production Animation Cel Setup or Model Cel Setup
WITH an OBG Original Production Background Cel!FROM THE WENDELL WASHER ESTATE!
Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity
This one may be quite the find. We believe it is from the original 1960's series, as the lines and colors support that. In addition we received it with another cel from the 1960's series that we have verified. Most people don't realize that a few episodes were colored and used to create the 1964 movie, "The Brave in Space." It may be from "Earth Defense Army" or "Robot Rocket" or "The Last Day of Earth" as the only ones in color.
It is definitely a spectacular cel setup. The red background is an entire painted cel as well. There is some of that "wet" look between the cels that they sometimes get when they're quite old. It doesn't show in the pictures but it is along the character's left side if the cels are pressed together.
The BEST part is - this cel came directly from the Wendell Washer estate. Wendell, like all career animators, had files of artwork they collected. This was one of the pieces he had for himself!
We will mount this gorgeous piece of art in an acid-free, 4-ply paper mat that measures 11" x 14" - so you can just buy your own frame and hang it in your home gallery. We only use archival/acid-free materials in mounting your artwork. NOTE: in most cases we have not yet mounted the art in a mat, so if you wish to have us leave it unmounted let us know IMMEDIATELY when you make the purchase, as we will often mat it within minutes.
PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND MAKE REQUESTS BEFORE YOU offer. PAYMENT IS DUE WITHIN (5) DAYS OF sale CLOSE.
Animation Art Has Flaws!
Animation Art was meant to be used for production of a show or feature and it was handled as such during the production - it was not meant to be kept pristine for collectors. So there may be flaws. If you'd like pristine artwork, please look at our wonderful Limited Editions. They are meant to be perfect poses of your favorite characters in new condition.
