Antique Tramp Art Chip-Carved Sewing Box with Pincushion
Charming antique handmade wooden sewing box featuring extensive layered chip-carved decoration in the traditional tramp-art/folk-art style.
The removable lid incorporates a large raised pincushion covered in an attractive rust/brown and cream patterned fabric. The box is elevated on four decorated feet, with chip-carved wooden elements covering the lid, sides, corners and base.
The lid lifts completely off to reveal a simple unfinished wooden storage compartment suitable for sewing notions and other small items.
The handmade construction and numerous individually cut and applied wooden pieces give this box wonderful folk-art character.
Antique condition with expected age-related wear. There are scattered small chips, losses, separations and irregularities among the applied carved wooden pieces, along with wear to the wood and fabric. These are visible in the photographs and are consistent with the age and handmade nature of the piece. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
