Antique Primitive c1871 Smiths Patent Kindler, Fire Starter, Lighting Torch

An Antique (dated 1871) Fire Starter, Torch Lighter. The case is hand made from tin and wood, the lighter part is signed and dated "Smith's Patent Kindler, Pat'd Oct 1871", the 8 is hard to read but it is indeed an 8. The lighter is in very good overall condition. There is a reservoir on the wood base, I assume it is to catch any drips of oil, I cannot find any other examples of this lighter anywhere to see if it is complete. A later piece of wax paper was added on the inside probably to prevent leaks, see photos. This would make an interesting addition to an early lighting collection.
