Antique Large Primitive 17th Century Bulbous Based Pewter Candlestick 9inch Tall
A fine and authentic 17th-century pewter candlestick, distinguished by its elegant bulbous base and well-balanced proportions. Crafted in cast pewter, the candlestick displays the restrained yet functional design characteristic of domestic and ecclesiastical metalwork of the period.
The central stem rises from a substantial bulbous base, providing both stability and visual appeal, and culminates in a neatly formed candle socket designed to accommodate a taper candle. The surface exhibits a rich, mellow patina developed over centuries, with areas of wear, minor imperfections, and oxidation consistent with age and use, all contributing to its historic character.
