OVERVIEW: Here’s a neat c. WWI gilt metal badge/pin from Germany. It depicts the Great Seal of the United States. I think it’s interesting that the eagle in the US seal has a very Germanic look! The seal is encircled by a checkerboard pattern in blue enamel. The back has its original tube hinge, pin stem, and C-clasp. I suspect this was part of a series of pins with different national coats of arms. Unusual and very good quality.
MARKS: maker’s mark, GESCHUTZT
DIMENSIONS: just over 1” dia.
WEIGHT: 8.6g
CONDITION: excellent, no damage to the enamel, no repairs or replacements
