Antique German Bohemian Ruby Red and Frosted Glass Beer Stein w/Inlaid Lid c.1870s
: Presented is a beautiful ruby red glass German beer stein with frosted with decorations created in the early 1870s in the German-controlled Bohemia (now Czech Republic).
The body of the stein is made of hand-blown Bohemian crystal glass with an applied handle. It was flashed with a ruby-red layer. The glass was then acid-treated to create beautiful decorations with frosted glass, giving a wonderful optical effect.
The lid is pewter with a matching clear glass inlay The hinge is a small five-ring closed type, this type of hinge was used in the early 1870s.
The stein's body is in excellent condition, with no lines, chips or repairs. The lid is missing the thumblift.
It is 4.5" tall to the top of the finial, 0.3L (12 oz) capacity.
