The clock is powered by an eight day time and strike movement by Paris clock maker, Japy Frere bearing a date stamp of 1879. The movement also bears the serial number 497 added by Guilmet. The movement uses a compound pendulum that results in the "hammer" moving up and down as it would in a factory sett ting. The movement was given a complete professional overhaul including, disassembled, cleaning, pivots polished, springs cleaned and lubricated. oiled, assembled, and regulated.
The case retains the original finish that carries a nice patina and no efforts have been made to doctor the gilt highlights. The clock rests upon a marble base and will need to be positioned on a flat hard surface with no vibrations to properly run.
The clock measures18 " tall and12 " wide and weighs 20 lbs.
A rare chance to own an Industrial clock.
