Authentic antique/vintage Chinese Shiwan stoneware Foo Dog (Guardian Lion) statue, dating from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic Period (circa 1890-1940).
• Material & Craftsmanship: Hand-modeled from a heavy, authentic grey sand-stoneware clay body (visible on the unglazed base along with a classic rectangular kiln vent cutout).
• Glaze: Features a vibrant, thick turquoise-blue flambe glaze with rich pooling, beautifully contrasted by warm ochre-brown accents on the stylized curls, teeth, and ornate pedestal base.
• Condition: The main structure is exceptionally solid and completely free of hairline cracks, structural breaks, or repairs. The glaze retains excellent shine. There are exactly three isolated surface chips on the exterior decorative nodes/curls from age and handling (clearly shown in the close-up photos), which do not compromise the integrity of this sturdy piece.
An excellent, character-filled addition for collectors of Chinese ceramics and Asian art.
