Very rare statue of the famous American Civil War Battle Eagle called "Old Abe" - titled "The Return of Old Abe" made of metal with brass finish. Abe was named after President Lincoln and was used as a mascot for the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment and fought in upwards of 40 battles during the Civil War and was injured. He lived from approx 1861-1881 when he died as the result of a fire in the State House. This statue is a very rare piece of Old Abe/Civil War memorabilia. It stands 8 1/4" h and is approx 6" across. The base shows the eagle's claws standing on a cannon with a flag, cannonballs, tree stumps and a soldier's cap. There is some loss to the finish and both of Abe's ankles have been repaired. This will make a wonderful addition to any collection of Civil War items. You can read more about Old Abe online. Please view the photos in close up and ask all questions prior to purchase.
