Rare and historic item from Silver Springs - diorama made by Byron Stephens, in the 1930s. It is believed this is one of the dioramas that was on display at the World\'s Fair in Chicago (1933-34). Stephens, originally from Sanford, was hired in the advertising/publicity department of Silver Springs (see article that is on the lid). The inside shows the famous scene at Silver Springs with a glass bottom boat. Measures 13.4 wide x 11 deep x 10.5 tall. The diorama accurately replicates what was there in the 1930s (those buildings burned down in the 1950s). The first photo shows the diorama lighted up, but please be advised it needs to reworked with a modern cord and plug (old plug has been cut off). Please note the nice carved details on the exterior. It is in good condition with moderate wear, mainly to the edges and corners. Lid is hinged. This item can be picked up in West Palm Beach. Delivery within south and central Florida can be arranged. Mark your calendar for the 6th Annual FLoridiana Fest, Feb. 12-13, 2027 at the Sarasota Fairgrounds (Potter Building). All the leading dealers will be there with a wide variety of rare Florida souvenirs and ephemera and cool kitsch. ALL the leading dealers of vintage Florida memorabilia will be there.
