Antique German \"HEUSCHRECK 1910\" Airship Theme Badge / Carnival Order – Research Opportunity
Offered is an unusual antique German badge featuring a whimsical court jester playing a lyre beneath an early airship (Zeppelin) with a suspended blue enamel grasshopper medallion inscribed \"HEUSCHRECK 1910.\"
I have spent considerable time researching this piece and have not been able to positively identify this exact badge. However, research indicates that \"Heuschreck\" was the name of the historic Karnevalsgesellschaft Heuschreck (Grasshopper Carnival Society) of Trier, Germany, established in the 1800s. The society is well known for producing elaborate annual carnival orders featuring jesters, grasshoppers, and topical themes. Because of the 1910 date and the airship motif, it is possible this badge relates to the early Zeppelin era and may represent a carnival order or commemorative piece from that period.
Please note: I have not found documentation confirming this exact 1910 design. Some collectors have suggested it could be an undocumented fantasy or later commemorative piece. For that reason, I am selling it exactly as found and ask buyers to rely on their own knowledge and examination of the photographs when determining age, origin, and authenticity.
