Wonderful antique 1902 studio photograph by Julius Leschinsky of Grand Island, Nebraska, featuring an impressive formal group of young men and women gathered around several seated adults.
The group is beautifully posed in period formal clothing, with many of the subjects wearing floral corsages or boutonnieres. The photograph may depict a church or confirmation group, school class, family gathering, or similar formal organization; the identities and exact occasion are unknown.
The back is dated 1902, providing an excellent documented date for this early Nebraska photograph.
Mounted on its original dark gray photographer’s board with the embossed Leschinsky / Grand Island / Neb. studio mark at the lower left.
A striking piece of turn-of-the-century Nebraska history with wonderful period fashion, hairstyles, and facial detail. Especially nice for collectors of antique photography, Nebraska history, genealogy, Edwardian-era imagery, or early photographic studios.
Approximate overall mounted size is 12 x 10 inches. Photograph itself is approximately 10 x 7.5 inches.
Condition
Antique as-found condition with expected age and storage wear. Mount shows edge and corner wear, light scuffing and surface marks, along with a few small spots/marks consistent with age. Photograph shows light age-related toning and minor surface wear but remains remarkably clear with excellent facial detail. Please review all photos closely for condition.
