MARKINGS:
* Wester Bros.
* Made in Germany
* No. 16
* Wester Bros. anchor trademark
The razor was manufactured in Germany, associated with Wester & Butz of Solingen, and sold in the United States through Wester Bros. The Wester Bros. Cutlery name dates to approximately 1904, although the company continued for decades, so the exact production date of this particular razor cannot be established from the markings alone.
APPROXIMATE AGE:
Circa 1904–1930s
This is an approximate dating based on the Wester Bros. company history, markings, construction and style. I would not claim a more precise date without additional documentation.
HANDLE/SCALES:
Black molded celluloid-type scales with metal pins. The exact material has not been chemically tested.
BLADE:
The blade is extremely sharp and retains a very keen edge. It has visible age-related surface wear and patina.
It has not been professionally honed or shave-tested by me.
BOX:
Includes a vintage Halberd Trade Razor box marked F.A. Clauberg & Co., New York.
Important: The box does not match the Wester Bros. razor markings and is therefore being included as a mismatched/vintage razor box, not represented as the original box for this razor.
The Halberd box is marked:
* HALBERD TRADE RAZOR
* SYRIAN STEEL
* F.A. CLAUBERG & CO.
* NEW YORK
It also retains its original warning label concerning the blade’s extreme thinness and high temper.
CONDITION:
Antique condition with age-related wear.
* Blade has surface wear, scratches and patina
* Blade remains extremely sharp
* Black celluloid-type scales have age-related scratches/wear
* Metal hardware shows age/patina
* Box has substantial age-related wear, discoloration and deterioration

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description.
