Large terracotta classical chariot relief wall plaque depicting a dramatic ancient-style procession with a team of running horses pulling a chariot accompanied by classical figures.
The scene is rendered in raised relief, with overlapping horses creating a strong sense of movement. A large spoked chariot wheel anchors the composition, while the figures and horses are modeled in the stylized manner associated with ancient Mediterranean architectural reliefs.
The plaque has a warm red-orange terracotta surface with green-gray patina settled into the recessed areas, emphasizing the details and giving it the appearance of an aged archaeological piece.
The reverse is hollowed/recessed in the traditional manner of a molded decorative plaque and includes a cord for wall display.
Measures approximately 14.5” long × 8.25” high.
A substantial and unusual decorative piece that displays beautifully with Classical, Mediterranean, Greek, Roman, Etruscan, archaeological, or Old World décor.
Pre-owned vintage decorative condition with an intentionally aged appearance, including irregular edges, surface texture, patina, abrasions and small chips consistent with the character of the piece. Please examine photographs for exact condition.
Unmarked; maker and exact age are unknown. Sold as a decorative classical reproduction rather than an authenticated antiquity.
