For the Stereo Realist Slide CollectorOriginal Stereo Realist slide
This came with a group of slides from a vintage (1950s) air show.
I do not know the exact date, location or other details.
This aircraft is a historic McDonnell FH-1 Phantom, the first purely jet-powered aircraft to successfully operate from a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. The specific registration number visible on the fuselage tail is Bureau Number (BuNo) 111770, with the side code 103. Produced shortly after World War II, this airframe originally served with Marine Fighter Squadron 122 (VMF-122). It was later assigned as a trainer aircraft to Naval Air Reserve training units. The image captures the pioneering naval twinjet resting on a tarmac, accompanied by three saluting women in historic service uniforms.
Note: The film chips were heat-sealed on paper mounts (the original Stereo Realist mounting system) and glass. I removed the glass. If the film chips were falling off, I remounted in Realist aluminum mount. If they were held in place, I put tape at the top to hold them. You can tell which is which from the pictures.
