DESCRIPTION:This sale features a lot of 3 spoons in sterling silver and enamel. They are by the famous silver company David Andersen of Norway.They each bear the image of a lion in side view holding an ax. There is a crown at the very top. I will openly note that one of the spoon is slightly different than the other two. It does not have the Celtic / “dragon motif” under the lion shield. Instead it simply graduates into the thin handle. Please keep this in mind.The pattern name appears to be either“Norway Coat of Arms” or “Norwegian Lions.”They would make a great addition to any antique Norwegian or David Andersen silver collection.
MARKINGS:Each of the spoons is marked as follows: "925S” and the older style hallmark for David Andersen. As they are marked either“925” or “925S” and the older hallmark, I highly suspect they date from the crossover year of 1925. That’s the year the old hallmark made way for the scale symbol and there was a shift from 830 silver to full 925 sterling silver instead.
CONDITION:FAIR~I am considering the age and use when factoring the condition rating. Considering these three pieces are now about 100 years old,I do feel they are in Fair condition overall. The biggest issue I found appears to be some missing areas of enamel to the crowns on two of the spoons.The third spoon does not appear to have had enameling in the crown symbol. In addition, the red enameling on all 3 spoons looks to be doing well with no major issues to note. I’ve tried to show this in the pictures, as well. There are some light surface scratches seen on all pieces, but nothing I would personally consider unusual for the age or use. I also noted some areas of minor tarnishing, but I will leave any cleaning or polishing to the new owner. Aside from the minor issues to the enameling noted above, I do not see any other major issues with these pieces. All in all I do feel they are doing well for their age. AGE/YEAR MADE:As there was a switchover from the old hallmark to the scale symbol — and they are 925 sterling silver and not 830S — I do believe they likely date from the crossover year of 1925.

Those are usually the only instances that I do not allow returns. I figure, if the item does not belong to me, I should allow that decision to be made by the person who does own it.
