Up for your consideration are three sets of hand painted Franciscan Apple Demitasse Cups and Saucers. The cups measure 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/4 tall and hold 4 ounces of liquid. The matching saucers measure 4 3/4" in diameter. Please note that since these cups and saucers are hand painted no two will look alike!
Both the demitasse cups and saucers are in mint condition as there are no chips, cracks, or crazing. They really look like they have never been used! Two of the cups are marked "Made in USA" while the third cup just has the decorator's number. All three saucers are marked with the Franciscan brown "TV Screen" mark which was used in the 1960's.
The Apple pattern was the first embossed hand-painted pattern made by the Franciscan company. The pattern was introduced on January 1, 1940 and is characterized by its bright red fruit, brown branches, and glossy green leaves. These super cute demitasse sets will make a wonderful addition to your Franciscan Apple collection.
