This is an original Standish real photo postcard showing extensive floodwaters covering the roadway and surrounding landscape. Photographer Norman P. Standish documented numerous scenes during the 1913 Fort Wayne flood, and his photographs form an important visual record of the disaster. The Fort Wayne History Center identifies other Standish flood RPPCs dated March 25, 1913.
The 1913 flood was one of Fort Wayne’s major natural disasters, damaging thousands of homes and leaving approximately 15,000 residents homeless.
Unused divided-back postcard. Condition shows considerable surface loss/flaking, spotting, edge and corner wear, toning and general age-related deterioration as pictured. Please examine photographs carefully for condition.
