This is a late-19th-century passenger timetable/brochure (pocket folder) for the Iron Mountain Route of the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway (often abbreviated St. L., I.M. & S.). 
It advertises the “Fast Mail Route” from St. Louis to destinations across the South and Southwest, including Galveston, San Antonio, El Paso, San Francisco, Memphis, Little Rock, Austin, and Mexico City. The covers list different major destination sets on each side, with decorative palm/leaf motifs typical of the era’s railroad promotional printing. Officials named include C. G. Warner (Vice-President), W. B. Doddridge (General Manager), and H. C. Townsend (General Passenger and Ticket Agent), all based in St. Louis, Missouri. It was printed by Woodward & Tiernan Printing Co. of St. Louis (Form 1).
One cover has the printer’s code “T.D. ½—3-1-’96,” which dates the issue to around March 1, 1896. The interior pages contain detailed train schedules (stations, routes, arrival/departure times for Express and other services), notes on connections, and amenities such as through Pullman buffet sleeping cars (e.g., St. Louis to Dallas and Fort Worth).
The Iron Mountain Route was a major late-19th/early-20th-century line running south from St. Louis through Arkansas into Texas and beyond, later absorbed into the Missouri Pacific system. These small, multi-page folders were standard passenger handouts that combined schedules, advertising, and route promotion.
