🇫🇷WWII French Resistance Medal–Cross of Lorraine,Original Ribbon
Description:
This authentic WWII French Resistance Medal features the iconic Cross of Lorraine, the symbol of Free France and the clandestine Résistance networks fighting German occupation. Struck in bronze and mounted on its correct wartime black-and-red ribbon, this medal commemorates the historic 18 June 1940 Appeal of General de Gaulle, referenced by the Roman numerals XVIII•VI•MCMLXL on the obverse — a rallying date for all who refused surrender.
The reverse motto “PATRIA NON IMMEMOR” (“The homeland does not forget”) honors those who risked their lives in sabotage operations, escape-line networks, intelligence gathering, courier service, and armed resistance groups such as the FFI, FTP, and Maquis cells. This is a desirable, original wartime piece, not one of the later post-war restrikes.
Collectors of WWII French militaria, Free French Forces, intelligence and clandestine service history, and Resistance-era awards will appreciate the authenticity and strong display presence of this medal.
