• Object: Small, rectangular combination model with 4 delimited fields of view (2x2 arrangement).• Dimensions: 110 x 75mm (11 x 7.5cm), Thickness: 18mm (1.8cm).• Material: Solid Cherry Wood (Cherry). The wood has remained slightly lighter compared to the previous models but shows a wonderfully silky finish and fine, dense fibering.• Age: circa 1860-1880 (late Biedermeier/historicism).• Theme Group: Rural Life / Seasons / Crafts. The figurative representations show a coherent rural or craft theme, which makes this model particularly worth collecting: 1. Top left: a dancing or cheering figure (possibly in holiday gown or with arms raised). 2. Top Right: A carpenter or lumberjack with a shouldered axe/hatchet. 3. Bottom Left: A soldier, hunter, or postillon with a whip/horn or rifle in profile. 4. Bottom right: A farmer's wife or maid harvesting with a large scythe on her shoulder.Provenance: Gauss Bretten Bakery
Price in brick-and-mortar retailers (antiques retailers)In the specialist trade for folk art and fine antiques, the retail price for this figurative model in 2026 is:$130.00 to $190.00.
Why this price?• High collector value due to "narrative character": figurative representations showing professions, costumes or activities of rural life are much more popular on the market than pure flora and fauna motifs. They tell a little story.• Excellent Preservation: The carving is very deep (negative relief), which makes the figures stand out vividly when baking. There are no chips on the filigree patterns of the dividing lines (crosshatching).
Dealer Purchase Price (HAP):Experience has shown that the purchase price in direct cash purchase through an antique shop is approximately €55.00 to €80.00.
