Vintage Automotive, GM Delco Remy Factory Brass Tool Check Tag #793020, with brass colored split keyring, used for decades in the Anderson Indiana production facility. The \'Tool Check\' system kept track of each tool that an employee had checked out for use each day.
The Remy brothers, Frank and Perry, started their business to improve gasoline automobile ignition systems in 1896. Their business thrived and they sold it for a reported $1 million in 1911 having gained a reputation for quality, bulletproof products.
In 1919 General Motors acquired the Remy business and added the \'Delco\' name to the brand. Delco Remy electric components were used in all of the GM brands, Buick, Cheverolet, Cadillac, ect. as well as many other vehicles. When the US entered World War II in December 1941 Delco Remy shifted most of its production to equipment for the military. They made Starter Motors, Alternators, Lighting, Controls, ect. for Armored Vehicles, Tanks, Aircraft, and Ships. Delco Remy also expanded their product line to meet the needs of a nation at war, making Aircraft Castings, Marine Engine Pistons, 20 mm Amo Casings, Machined Aircraft Parts, Electric Generators.
