Ann Arbor Sportscar is pleased to offer a nice
clean reconditioned bare engine block casting number 12H3503. This is a five main bearing BMC B-series 1800
GK block as found in the MGB and various other 1960’s and 1970’s era British
automobiles. This block is from engine number
18GK-RWE-H10002 recently salvaged from a very rusty running and driving 1971
MGB-GT. This engine block was recently
serviced at our local reputable machine shop.
The bare block was degreased and hot-tanked to clean it to the bare
casting. The block was magnafluxed for
cracks and inspected for integrity and was found to be in good rebuildable core
condition. The machine shop primed the
block to prevent flash rusting. This
block is standard bore ready to be bored and rebuilt by the buyer. Upon closer inspection of the condition of
the cylinder walls – we observed a small area of light residual pitting on the
backside wall of cylinder #1 (please see close up photo). For this reason, the buyer should consider
over-boring the cylinders to eliminate this.
This block comes with the correct matched set of five main bearing caps,
the main bearing cap studs, washers and nuts.
The main bearing caps are not installed.
This engine block assembly is extremely heavy. The boxed shipping weight is over 140 pounds.
We will carefully pack and double-box
the engine block to ship to the buyer. We
will ship this block via FedEx or UPS Ground Service. Local pick up is encouraged and is
preferred. The buyer is encouraged to
pick this up at our shop in Ann Arbor, Michigan, if you prefer to save the
shipping costs. Please email us with any
