Cooper S early style BMC 970 no window cylinder block. AEG 151 casting # block. Thin flange with tappet chest covers. Block # C3951 Stripped, cleaned and shot blasted. Ready for machine work to prepare block as a base for a very rare Mini XSP dry sump racing engine. Includes matching main caps and shoulder bolts for use as a transverse (Mini) engine. Can be converted to inline (Sprite/Midget/Formula Junior) engine with your inline main cap and stud set and some machining. Ready for life as a Vintage/Historic or SCCA race engine.
2.800" (+.020" over std) bore size. Needs to be honed or bored/honed to your bore size. Block has 4 thin wall stepped sleeves. See photo of cylinder bases #3 & #4.Fuel pump boss bored for XSP oil scavenge pump. Block also drilled and tapped for XSP dry sump oiling system. See photos of LH side of block.Note plugged oil dipstick hole on block RH side, see photo. This block has an undocumented history of Formula Junior racing in the UK while in a Cooper F/Jr. Block has also been "windowed" in its' career of British racing, and has been repaired by nickel welding in the UK. Price has been "adjusted" due to this repair. Please carefully inspect the photos of both the inside and outside of the block. A block of this rarity justifies the repair for further usage.
