These are used original 427 chevy Big block pistons, and two used OE replacement Big Block 427 pistons. There are four 3925580 pistons for the RH, and one has a rod still attached. There are two 3925579 pistons for the LH. There are also two replacement OE pistons L2300 std that fit LH or RH. They are all STD bore pistons.
Contrary to popular belief and even some web site data, The 3925579 piston is NOT a LH / or RH piston. Thisfallacycomes from the fact sometimes the piston number under the piston did not have the RH or LH stamp at the end of the number. That was because it did not fit if the cast type setter did'nt make room for it. So some people thought they were universal. This often led to people putting a LH pistons in a RH bores, or visa versa and that would last about 10-20 K miles. But if you look at these original parts they all have a stamp in the valve notch area that signifies L or R . It was for this reason the cast type setter did'nt care if he fit the LH or RH post script underneath. ALL the 3925579 pistons are stamped L on top in the valve recess , and all the 3925580 are stamped R. There are two OE replacement L2300 STD pistons. Those were made LH/ or RH .
These pistons are all usable for service if cleaned andpreppedproper. . Slight wear on some of the skirts. Rings are no good, but they are useful to show they were about 20 % worn, so too must be the case for the pistons. The pins are pitted and could be usable to a very low budget do it yourself rebuild or repair, so I am sending them with the pistons..The purpose of listing these is Some people want 100% factory parts in a restoration down to the pistons. These cars are very old and it is like looking for original parts to WWII planes now. If you are looking for one, two or a few good exact replacement pistons to complete a 1966-69 427, 385, 390, or 400 HP engine , there are 6 in this set. This includes the L36 , L68 and tri power cars , as well as a chevell. They are no longer available. What is available are the L2300 andequivalent W 412P. But they have a difference you can see in the photo. The pin bores, on all the new OE replacements do not have oilers as the originals did. ( i.e. the tiny hole on the bottom of the piston pin journal ends) Some say it does not matter , and others do. All I can say is if you want a 100% exact numbers matching motor down to the pistons for a 427 vette. Then these pistons can be well worth having. All these for the price of less than half of one new piston.They are cheap no matter what your plan.
