As an XL it had bucket seats and a console.Ford rebounded from its poor showing in 1962 to win 23 Grand National NASCAR races, including the top five places at Daytona. This sucess was due to two factors, both introduced mid way through the 1963 model year (1963 1/2 according to Ford). The first was a new sleek Sports Roof body for the two door Galaxie, which was two inches lower than the regular hardtop and offered better aerodynamics.
