Here is one of the rarest FIATs produced by the Torinese automaker and this one is specifically rare since it is a 1962 model, last year of the 118S production and only year made with 4 disc brakes all around. I have read in a few sites that Only 80 cars 118S FIATS were produced from 1959 to 1962 and 1/4 of that with all 4 disc brakes. Production ran from 1959 til 1962 in collaboration with the Maserati brothers that developed a special DOHC engine capable of putting out almost 100 horse power. This 1962 FIAT 1500S OSCA cabriolet with body designed by Pininfarina features an original and still in excellent shape Nardi 16 inch wooden steering wheel, 5 bolts 15 inch wheels, front and back California black plates, original red paint throughout the whole car except the hood which was painted on top of the red paint a dull grey color. This Fiat has very minimal rust. The only rust I have detected is a small spot by the rear passenger wheel lip and some bubbles along the side the passenger side rocker panel everything else seems to be exceptionally solid. Engine bay, floor panels, trunk area and frame is all rust free. This FIAT is very much complete and comes with 3 full boxes of extra parts. Some other rare features include the center armrest/glove compartment that can be locked, front passenger foot rest bar, convertible top booth cover, full spare wheel factory painted ivory color. I was contacted by the original owner of this Fiat not too long ago and He was kind enough to email me pictures of this OSCA back when it was in its glory days. These pictures can be seen on the scrolling banner above towards the end. This Fiat is in need of restoration, I tried to fire the engine but I was not able to make it turn over. Please consider that the engine would need to be rebuilt or if you have a way to make it turn over and make it run more power to the new owner. I have a clear California title in hand with original license plate digits printed on it so a new Califonia owner would get to keep the original plates. This 1500S is almost identical to its smaller sister FIAT 1200 also produced those same years. What this car differs from the 1200 is the front Hood bulge which is wider and bigger and of course engine transmission, steering wheel, brakes, larger wheels and probably 1 or 2 more things. engine was rated at 95 hp versus the close to 30 hp on the 1200. My guess is that this was the racier version of it. FIAT, Pininfarina, OSCA (Officine Specializzate Costruzioni Automobili - Fratelli Maserati SpA) Nardi, Cambi Colotti, They all collaborated in the production of this car. Sounds more like an Alfa Romeo but I guess FIAT occasionally dared to go that same direction. This car is located inside my warehouse here in sunny Gardena California near the LAX airport in Los Angeles. If the winner needs a little more time I would grant that although If not picked up by the time requested I'd have to charge $25 per week storage fee the following week after the 14 days grace period. This is primarily to encourage the buyer to have the car picked up as soon as possible or I would end up with my entire lot packed with vehicles. I know it sounds a bit harsh though I hope it makes a point. FEB/17/2012THE OSCA HAS BEEN SOLD TODAY LOCALLY.THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THIS VERY RARE CAR.
