GRAND PRIX CONVERTIBLE OFFERED FOR 1 YEAR ONLY ?.1967! ONE OWNER!! The 1967 Grand Prix convertible. Its makers described it as "a marvelous adventure; an automobile that distinguishes you among fine car owners. A car that stands apart from all others. As an expression of individuality, good taste and accomplishment. As the reflection of a way of life.? The 67 Grand Prix convertible offered here is in extraordinary condition inside and out..........top to bottom. This is the only year Pontiac made a Grand Prix convertible. This glamorous auto reflects the extreme care it has had from day one. It has had just one owner and was a fair weather, warm summer night cruiser. It was driven an average of just 2400 miles per year. Renowned classic car collector and critic, Mark Todd states, "this Grand Prix convertible is one of the very best examples available today. It stands apart for its originality, fit and finish. A truly fine automobile." HISTORY OF PONTIAC Pontiac made its debut in 1926. It was sold by General Motors as a senior Chevrolet. Not very exciting, to say the least. It was created to gain market share in the low end of the medium price field. It did just that; it never failed to outsell its nearest competitor, Mercury. It's easy to trace Pontiac history prior to 1955.................it did not have one. Pontiac got through 1954 as a senior Chevrolet with its straight sixes and in-line eights. Turn the page and you will find one of the most astounding transformations in automobile history. No one seemed to notice Pontiac potential until Semon Knudsen assumed his post as general manager of PMD. At this time Pontiac was known to be a real good car, solid but deadly dull. They were cars that elderly people bought. Knudsen changed all that with his vision and his dream. Early on he stated, "You can sell a young man's car to old people but you cannot sell an old man's car to young people." He believed in order for Pontiac to grow it had to appeal to enthusiasts as well as older people who were interested in transportation only. The horse power race was on and he determined to make PONTIAC THE YOUNGEST MOTOR CAR IN THE INDUSTORY. His first action was to rid the car of its dual hood stripes. The Silver Streak was a legend, but it had to go. He thought they looked like suspenders. They were out of style and boring. Pontiac was going to be daring and forever young.-----------------Overnight, Pontiac was on the move, a runaway train. By 1959, Pontiac was unstoppable and unbeatable on the stock car circuit. PONTIAC EXCITEMENT. HISTORY OF THIS GRAND PRIX As stated, this Grand Prix convertible is a highly original automobile. It has had just one owner and has had extreme care. No attempt has been made to conceal any flaws or areas of concern. Every attempt was made to show you the entire car with pictures and words. I offer you my opinions and evaluations as we go through the entire car step by step with close up pictures and descriptions. Included are the original build sheet and bill of sale. A 1963 Chevrolet convertible was taken in on trade. Times have changed, he was allowed a mere $750. The engine and transmission are original to the car. The radio is original and it works. This is in every way an exceptional interior. Just a bit about the 67 Grand Prix wonderful exterior, especially the convertible.
