1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk with original 352 V8 Packard engine, 3 Speed OD Borg Warner transmission. This car was purchased at an auction in May of 2020. It is an older restoration with some bondo patching in the fenders and fiberglass on the front driver's side floor pan. It has a good grill and hubcaps. It was changed to a 3 Speed OD with floor shifter, console and bucket seats in it's earlier restoration. This car has front end damage and will require repair or replacement of LF fender, LF air scoop, hood, bumper and trim. All these parts are available used, good condition. Can provide a resource. The front floor pans have some rust-through, and the driver's side was patched with fiberglass. The remaining floor pans including rear "hog troughs" are solid with minimal surface rust. Trunk pan is solid. Front body supports are rusty and will need repair or replacement. Sub-floor pans will need replaced. Center console is from a 66-67 Chevy Impala and repair parts are available on eBay. Bucket seats are of unknown origin. Speedo, temp, oil pressure, ammeter, fuel, ammeter & vacuum gauges all work. Tach does not work, mechanical fuel pressure gauge does not seem to register. Radio does not work and will need an antenna. The water temp gauge is sticky. It does peg at times, though the engine does not overheat. When the gauge pegs, it has to be tapped to drop. The car runs, drives and stops reliably. I drove it two days to Back to the Fifties car show, 60 miles round trip, without issues. This trip includes stop and go city traffic and 70 mph freeway driving. It will need suspension work to be comfortable driving, but never felt unsafe. Odometer shows 55,xxx and works. Unknown if actual.Engine and transmission will need rebuilt, but runs strong. Pretty much every seal leaks a little. The exhaust will need to be replaced as there are holes in the muffler and pipes. Sounds cool, though! :)Photos and videos in this link provide a good representation of the car's condition, driving, and recent history:https://www.timelockphoto.com/TM-Garage/Cars/56-Golden-Hawk-JP2/n-qwQH5v Work done on the car since purchased at auction: Rebuilt carburetor Rebuilt fuel pumpNew plugs & pointsNew DS exhaust elbow (these are very hard to find now)New heat riser valveNew master cylinder and all wheel cylinders, hoses & shoesNew front handbrake cableOil change with zinc additive, new canister filterNew speedometer cableRemoved and cleaned OD solenoidRewired OD control Custom relay & switch control of OD **See video of operation in photos link aboveNew Hurst Mastershift shifter & stickRepaired OD lockout cable & leverReplaced front fender signal lenses with good usedReplaced rear tail light lenses with good usedSome body work to straighten LF fenderInstalled grille & LF headlamp assemblyOther parts included in sale:Original oil bath air cleanerNOS rear skirt between trunk and bumperOther used parts not included but available for additional purchase:Front bumperRear bumperFront fenders cut off behind fresh air vents57 & later Hawk hood, good cornersIt is stock 12v negative ground. That car has tells and lack of pictures that are brining its price down. You see everything about this car from my description and picture site. The potential value is there. Thanks for your interest!
