Fordproduced 151,484 Mustangs in 1971 but only 36,499 were Mach 1. Now after 40 years, how many of these cars are still on the road? We acquired this car in 2007. The Marti report shows that it is a true Mach 1. It has a 351 4V engine mated to a 4 speed wide ratio manual transmission with a Hurst shifter exiting through dual exhausts. The transmission and the 3.25 standard ratio axle are numbers matching but the period correct engine is not.The blacked out NASA hood scoops are functional but not ram air. The previous owner made some engine upgrades –Edelbrock performance series 600 cfm carburetor with aluminum intakePertronix solid state ignitionK&N air filter The factory color was Grabber Yellow but at some point it was painted white. The car has numerous paint chips and rust around the taillights and on the roof line passenger side. The floor pan on the passenger side is rusted through with a hole under the seat. The trunk sill is rusted with a hole in the floor. New floor pans are suggested. The driver’s front wheel needs paint. The bottom of the front bumper is bent forward. The BF Goodrich Radial TA’s are mounted on 5 spoke Fordwheels with about 50% tread remaining. The car has a white leather Grant GT steering wheel, theoriginal steering wheel is included. The AM radio was replaced with a Jensencassette/ radio with remote.
